Since our establishment in 1995 Etruscan Places has evolved to provide three distinct landscape painting workshops all of which are described separately below.  All of our courses do share some common features however.

First is the intensity.  All Etruscan Places workshops consist of two 3 - 4 hour painting sessions per day interrupted only by 1 or 2 half day field trips depending on the class, PLUS slide presentations and lectures.   The actual number of hours involved and the course content are acknowledged to be equivalent to a one semester class at the university level.   Hence, our programs are geared for artists interested in a serious painting experience.

Next, while the workshops are designed primarily for the medium of oil paint, participants have worked successfully in watercolor, acrylic and pastel.  We understand that it is important to travel lightly so we ask participants to bring only paints, brushes and palette knives.  We supply EVERYTHING ELSE: French box easels, drawing boards, umbrellas, chairs, brush tanks and solvents, painting medium, high quality canvas boards in a variety of sizes, an assortment of papers, and A LOT MORE! We work outside, on location, all the time, RAIN OR SHINE (that says much in these times of highly unpredictable weather), and have all the necessary equipment to do so.

We accept only a maximum of 12 students per class to guarantee that students receive quality personal attention.  All workshops are staffed by at least two artists and full classes normally have three artist instructors.

While the courses vary in terms of structure and content we have a proven track record of addressing a very wide range of student needs in a professional and supportive manner.  Almost 40% of first time participants return for another class.  Participants with ALL levels of artistic experience from absolute beginners to advanced are encouraged to join us.
